Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends. Cory and I pray your day was blessed full of fellowship and food. Our day was enjoyable as we fed over 20 people, got to spend time with a friends from Germany and really focused to what God wants for our lives. I am grateful He continues to inform us of the areas we need to change and walk with us down the path towards excellence. He is awesome!!!

WOW...Montana is nose hair freezing cold!!!

I know God loves me...so that is what I think about every time I step outside and feel my nose hairs freeze!! A different kind of cold is an understatement. Over the last two weeks, we have had snow, more snow and extremely cold weather. We have been living with "negative" temperatures for the last week with no change in sight. I didn't know one could be so cold.

I must admit, the area looks beautiful, but no joke...it is COLD. It is bone chillin', nose hair freezing, hard to breath, throw hot water in the air and watch it crystallize cold. Kisha....can you feel me?!?!?! I know OK gets cold, but you don't get -35 degrees....but MT does!!

I would take pictures (and I will), but all I can think about it getting into my house. We will have a white Christmas and do look forward to trading my winter wonderland for sunny San Diego. Yes we are heading to the Holiday Bowl to watch OSU beat the University of Oregon. We will spend 4 warm, glorious days hanging in Cali!!!

Well...I will end here. I need to find out if we are hosting a Christmas meal at our house. We have been informed we live in the boonies...we actually live 7.9 miles away for the base, but it has never stopped them from coming to our house and eating our food. What can I say...we fellowship with the under 25 crowd. I love them!!! God Bless...

A Different Kind of Cold

This week we experienced a pretty good snow. I believe we got 4 to 6 inches. The thing that shocked me the most was how cold it got. Germany got cold, but this Montana cold was a different kind of cold. Oh my gosh.....I only heard of your nose hair freezing and getting choken on your breath, but experienced it on Thursday. The temperature was 2 degrees and I forget what the wind chill was, but it was COLD!!!

Everyone keeps telling me "this is nothing...wait until January / February". I kept thinking "stop talking to me about Jan / Feb" and"our family is never coming in the cold if I blog this", but I needed to share the love. I didn't take pictures this time, but don't worry...we are expecting snow again next week, so there will be pictures soon. I know the locals are thinking "this little black child needs some help" and they are right.

All in all, I survived and will survive because I have no other choice. I can say the snow is beautiful and I love looking at the snow on the mountains that surround our area. Montana is truly a lovely place, but you must prepare for the weather.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Well, this was our first Thanksgiving holiday in the states for the last four years. It was bittersweet as Cory and I really miss our overseas family, but we are also very happy to be closer to our family in the states. Although we didn't spend the holiday with our immediate family, we did feel closer to them. The phone calls, text messages and postings on Myspace were just as special.

On this day, we ate with our musicians family. We combined our cooking efforts (I did the ham and pecan pie...they were wonderful!!!) and invited airman over so everyone had a place to eat. Although we didn't have as many airman (many of them had to work today), we did share the meal with a couple of airman, members from community churches and people from the Great Falls community. The experience was different, but I suppose God is a God of "experience changes". He always desires for us to stretch and grow in our walk and I can truly say the last four months have been that learning experience.

I remember writing in my journal last night thanking God for his love and compassion. I am grateful to be living in a country that voted to make a change for our current and future generations, for the military who provides us the right to sit at a table and eat food with family and friend, for family and friends near and far, for an amazing husband and wonderful home, the thought of an addition to our family next year, a good / challenging career position and even being in Montana.

What more can I say...for now...I am blessed and thankful!

Snow....Already!!!

Word on the street is we are getting snow as soon as tomorrow. Its not supposed to be much, but it is coming. Just last week, we were in fall. What can I say....we are in Big Sky country!!! The temperature has been cool this week, but you can tell the snow is coming. As long as we don't go deep with the snow, I am good. I will be ready for winter when winter comes, but I am wanting to enjoy fall. Fall around here is very pretty.

Hey Gang,

I have had a difficult time with this blog, so this is my third attempt. Here are some pictures of our house. We have worked on some of our rooms, but we plan to renovate pretty much the whole house. The house is in very good shape, but needs to be updated. The previous owners lived her for over 20 years and some things were not updated. We will begin our projects once we get a couple of paychecks under the belt (SMILE) and look forward to the challenge. You know a sister will be watching some HGTV!!! God Bless you all.

It's been a while...

Well, it has been a while since I last blogged. There is plenty to share, but not enough time tonight to do so. I will be posting a blog and pictures of our recent outings in the near future. Keep checking back to see the happenings....
